full ROUTINE STRUCTURE
5-Minute Gentle Reset
A short ST36 practice followed by three minutes of easy walking when standing and walking feel safe.
Guided self-care with safety and location checks before the timer.
5 min1 point
Protocol note
The exact PointWell sequence, timing, and single-session format have not been directly tested as a complete clinical protocol.
Exact protocol: not validated. 300 seconds; learning, safety and check-in are outside the timer.
- Settle - 10 seconds
Sit comfortably for a moment and let your legs relax.
- Continuous circular pressure - 30 seconds left
Use steady, comfortable pressure at left ST36 with small, slow circular movements.
- Transition - 5 seconds
Release and change sides.
- Continuous circular pressure - 30 seconds right
Repeat the same comfortable circular pressure at right ST36.
- Stand prepare - 15 seconds
If standing and walking feel safe, rise slowly and make sure you feel steady before you begin.
- Light walking - 180 seconds
Walk at an easy, comfortable pace for three minutes. This is a light movement break, not a workout. Stop and sit somewhere safe if you feel dizzy, faint, unsteady, unusually short of breath, or more unwell.
- Final settle - 30 seconds
Stop walking somewhere safe. Let your breathing settle naturally and notice how you feel before returning to your day.
Before you begin
PointWell offers general self-care and educational guidance and is not a substitute for diagnosis, treatment, or emergency medical care.
Familiar everyday tiredness after a busy day, poor sleep, travel, or long sitting.
Seek urgent medical care if unusual fatigue comes with chest pain, shortness of breath, a fast or irregular heartbeat, feeling faint, a severe headache, severe abdominal/pelvic/back pain, or unusual bleeding.
If tiredness is unexplained, keeps returning, lasts for weeks, or affects daily life, consider medical evaluation.
Only use the walking version if standing and walking feel safe. Stop for dizziness, faintness, instability, unusual shortness of breath, or feeling more unwell.
Do not route ME/CFS or post-exertional malaise into a generic push-through or walking-energy routine. Follow individualized pacing/activity limits.
Traditional Use
ST36 (Zusanli) has a long history of traditional use in contexts involving weakness, digestive function, and general constitutional support. Traditional use does not prove that ST36 increases biological energy or treats modern fatigue.
Modern Evidence
ST36 appears in repeated manual acupressure programs studied for fatigue, often in cancer-related populations and multi-point regimens over days or weeks. Independent ST36 acute effects are not established. Three-minute light walking bouts have been studied as repeated sitting breaks; one single bout is not established as a fatigue treatment.
Evidence Labels
Supportive but population-limited and multi-point
Limited / supportive for prolonged-sitting interruption
No direct combination evidence
Protocol Note
The exact PointWell sequence, timing, and single-session format have not been directly tested as a complete clinical protocol.
Three-minute light-walking bouts have been studied as repeated breaks from prolonged sitting, but the repeated pattern — not a single bout — was tested. There is no direct evidence validating ST36 plus walking as a combined PointWell protocol.
Tired sometimes — or tired all the time?
Ordinary tiredness after a busy day, poor sleep, travel, or long sitting is different from persistent or unexplained fatigue. If tiredness keeps returning, lasts for weeks, or interferes with daily life, it deserves evaluation rather than simply another energy reset.
Check-in
How do you feel right now?
- A little more refreshed
- About the same
- More tired or unwell
Immediate self-report only; not a clinical outcome, treatment response, or efficacy measure.
Completion
Return to what you were doing at an easy pace. A short movement break can interrupt prolonged sitting, but this routine is not a treatment for persistent fatigue.
