Protocol note

The exact PointWell sequence, timing, and single-session format have not been directly tested as a complete clinical protocol.

Exact protocol: not validated. 60 seconds; learning, safety and check-in are outside the timer.

  1. Settle - 10 seconds

Let your shoulders drop a little and allow your breathing to stay natural.

  2. Continuous circular pressure - 40 seconds midline

Rest one fingertip at Yintang, midway between the inner ends of your eyebrows. Use light, slow small circles and keep the contact comfortable.

  3. Release and orient - 10 seconds

Release your hand and notice one or two things around you — a sound, a shape, or where your feet are resting.

Before you begin

PointWell offers general self-care and educational guidance and is not a substitute for diagnosis, treatment, or emergency medical care.

Ordinary moments of stress or feeling unsettled.

If anxiety is frequent, persistent, hard to control, or interfering with work, sleep, relationships, or daily life, consider talking with a healthcare or mental-health professional.

Do not assume new chest pain, fainting, severe shortness of breath, or new neurological symptoms are just anxiety.

If emotional distress feels overwhelming or there is risk of self-harm or harm to others, seek immediate support rather than relying on this routine.

Traditional Use

HT7 (Shenmen) has long been used in East Asian medicine in connection with emotional settling and disturbed rest. Yintang is traditionally used in calming and head-related contexts. Traditional use is not proof of modern efficacy.

Modern Evidence

Manual Yintang acupressure has been studied for situational or procedural anxiety. A randomized study used simultaneous manual pressure at Yintang and right wrist HT7 for five minutes in a preoperative cesarean population. This is a relatively close protocol match, but not a general-population validation of PointWell.

Protocol Note

The exact PointWell sequence, timing, and single-session format have not been directly tested as a complete clinical protocol.

Yintang manual acupressure has been studied for situational anxiety before medical procedures, generally with longer or differently structured interventions than this 60-second pause.

Everyday stress is not the same as an anxiety disorder

Feeling anxious or stressed at times is part of ordinary life. Anxiety that persists, feels difficult to control, or interferes with daily activities may need professional care.

Check-in

How settled do you feel right now?

Immediate self-report only; not a clinical outcome, treatment response, or efficacy measure.

Completion

Take another moment before moving on if you want to. You don’t need to make the feeling disappear.
